Ricola DTA, SILVER classified and inspected (AHR) in 2007
(b. 3.3.05). Adanac x Ricarda II GF. 15H. This RPSI Premium/Inspection Champion, AHR Silver Classified and American Warmblood Society (AWS) GOLD medal award winner and National Inspection Champion mare is an outstanding example of the modern, pleasure sporthorse type Haflinger! With only five foals on the ground, Rikka has proven herself to be a top producer as well, with her first inspected colt achieving approval for breeding status in 2013, and two other foals receiving RPSI Gold Premium status and site inspection champions (one over nine Warmblood and sport pony foals), and another achieving high Silver Premium status! Rikka's refinement and elegance are paired with a beautiful head, very long, elegant neck (one of the longest and most beautiful necks we have seen on a Haflinger!), long, long legs, and a large, beautiful kind eye. Ricola's a pure white mane and tail, dark chestnut coloring, and leggy, modern type draw attention wherever she goes!
Ricola's pedigree is loaded with the top broodmare and sire bloodlines in the Haflinger world! Her sire, Adanac, (Afghan II x Annette) is a Star stallion and one of the highest classified stallions in North America at 82 points and the only GOLD classified stallion in Canada (now deceased)! Adananc's sire is a former World Champion and is out of the great liz. Afghan. Adanac is also half brother to Amadeus (now deceased), who was the highest classified stallion in Austria at 85 points.
Adanac's dam, Annette (Winterstein x Assunta), is out of one of the strongest mare lines in Europe. Annette was first in her class at the 1995 and 2000 World Show, and is a full sister to Assita and to Alegra (GOLD classified-Austria). In 2010, the World Champion mares descended from this mare line.
Ricola's dam, Ricarda II, is AHR silver classified (76 points), and is out of a full sister to the dam of Rivella TOF, and by the great broodmare sire, Nabucco.
In 2015 Ricola blessed us with another filly that sold inutero, Rivendell of New Horizons. Darker than her full sibling but every bit as athletic, this tall, modern, powerful moving filly wowed the judges at her RPSI inspection as her sister did a year earlier, and was awarded Gold Premium status with a score of 8.2, and Inspection Site Champion foal out of nine foals presented that day!
The RPSI inspector commented on Rivy being very well-developed with a nice long neck, good neck set and topline, and how she stays nicely balanced and uphill in her movement, with a very nice uphill canter, sitting in the hind end, and with easy flying changes.
Ricola is in foal to Stellar for 2016. While we reserve first option on a filly, we are offering a colt option for sale and welcome inquiries on a filly.
On July 25, 2014 we presented Rikka and her 2014 filly, Rafinja of New Horizons to RPSI at the Michigan inspection. Rafinja is Stellar's first foal to be inspected RPSI, and we are proud to say that she received the highest status awarded foals! Below is the commentary taken from the RPSI site. Photo credits to Ann Daum Kustar of RPSI for the fantastic photos!
"A highlight of the day was the Haflinger mare and foal bred by Mary Procopio of New Horizons Haflingers. The RPSI inspects and registers purebred Haflingers into their own books, as a division of the pony breeding section. In Germany, the RPSI’s parent organization the Pferdezuchtverband Rheinland Pfalz-Saar registers more than 30 different breeds, including but not limited to the Warmblood books, German Riding Ponies and Kleines Deutsches Reitpferd, but also Shetland Ponies, Icelandic, Haflinger and Draft Horses each have their own books, with their own rules and regulations, and often their own brands.
Ricola DTA (Adanac x Ricarda II GF – Nabucco), a nine year old Haflinger mare, showed excellent modern type with a big eye, good length of neck and balanced and substantial conformation expressing well the modern Haflinger standard. In movement, Ricola showed energy, softness and swing, with a particularly good trot and canter. This combination of type and quality of conformation, movment and substance earned Ricola the title of Champion Premium Pony Mare of the site.
Site Champion Filly was Ricola’s 2014 filly Rafinja of New Horizons. Rafinja was sired by Stellar TVR, who successfully completed the North American Pony test in 2013. This substantial yet elegant filly boasted a particularly well-proportioned and balanced profile, with a clean neck tie-in and chiseled face. Long legs and excellent muscling over her topline completed the picture, while in motion, this filly also pleased the eye, with a powerful, swingy uphill trot and balanced canter."
On April 18, 2014 Rikka has a tall, beautiful filly by our SILVER classified Austrian imported stallion, Stellar TVR! This cross was everything we were hoping for! Rafinja has long legs, a beautiful head, outstanding hindquarter and type, and loads of presence! This spectacular filly was sold in utero in November!
On April 12, 2011, Rikka blessed us with what we had been hoping for--a beautiful filly out of Alfa! Rendezvous of New Horizons, aka "Roz," has long legs and a wonderful personality. Roz is joining her "big brother" at Dreamfield Manor Farm and we can't wait to see how she develops!
On March 8, 2010, this beautiful, tall, elegant mare out of the highest GOLD HBO classified stallion in North America had her first foal--a stunning, tall colt--by the three-time National Champion Stallion (2007, 2009 and 2010), 2009 Reserve Champion SIP Stallion-of-the-Year, and 2010 Champion SIP Stallion, Alfa of Genesis--the highest GOLD AHR classified stallion in North America and only three-time National Champion! This foal was sold the week after Rikka was bred!
A Black Tie Affair NW HRZN, a stunning colt, has exceeded our expectations on this cross! "Tux" has an incredible length of neck, a beautiful head with a large, kind eye, fantastic movement, and wonderful temperament! His pedigree includes the strongest mare and stallion lines in the Haflinger Breed from Austria and Holland, and is loaded with World and National Champions. Only shown twice in 2010, Tux won second place senior weanling pleasure colt in a very competitive class at the 2010 AHR Futurity, and 2nd place 2-year-old and under stallion/gelding at the 2010 KILE show in Pennsylvania! In 2013 Tux was inspected and approved for breeding through the AHR. He then went on to win his three-year-old under saddle class at the AHR National Futurity and was named Grand Champion three-year-old!
In September 2010 Ricola was inspected by the American Warmblood Society (AWS) Performance Sporthorse Registry. Not only did she score very high red preferred--missing blue preferred by only .15% of a point--she was awarded the bronze medal for being the third highest scoring horse inspected at the Michigan site! Comments from the AWS inspector include: nice swinging back, good use of topline, good rhythm and balance, nice wither and beautiful neck! The inspector also commented on the purity of gaits in the Haflinger breed, and that they have some of the purest gaits of all of the horse breeds that she has inspected! Rikka then went on to win the GOLD medal as the AWS National Inspection Champion and was ranked first in the nation (sport pony division) for the 2010 AWS USA National Year End Inspection Awards Program!
In 2010 Rikka began her under saddle career. After only a few weeks under saddle, she attended the New York Gold Haflinger Classic and won first place under BOTH judges in the English pleasure walk/trot class! She also competed successfully in intro level dressage tests and in western pleasure walk/jog! This elegant mare has a beautiful, powerful trot and a ground-covering stride, with lots of extension up front and movement from behind, and is very willing and eager to please under saddle.

In 2007 Ricola was shown at the Buckeye Haflinger Show where she placed 2nd in a very competitive class. She also received second place at the 2007 Pennsylvania Haflinger Show. Ricola was classified silver with 76 points in 2007 as a growthy two-year-old. She received an 8 on neck at that time, and her neck has grown several inches since then!
